South Bend area drivers should be aware of some changes south of the city. The Indiana Department of Transportation is closing side street access to US 31 south of town as part of the newly reconfigured highway. They will be in effect through the end of 2014.
The streets that will be closed beginning on Monday, July 28, in order of street from north to south include:
- Jewell Avenue
- Ritter Avenue
- Hildebrand Street
- Yoder Street
- Dice Street
- Pulling Street
- Gilmer Street
- Detroit Avenue
- Pasadena Avenue
- Lucinda Street
The easiest way to reach residential houses on the east side of this area would be along St. Joseph Street, which runs north to south and S. Main Street for houses on the west side of US 31.
