If you live in or travel through South Bend, you will want to know that one of the busiest north-south thoroughfares in town will be closed tomorrow. The city announced tonight that Ironwood Drive from Mishawaka Avenue to Lincolnway East will be closed for road paving between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 21.
“Drivers are asked to use alternative routes. Vehicle access will be provided to Martin’s Super Market, 314 S. Ironwood Drive, and to Indiana University South Bend’s River Crossing Campus Housing,” the city said in an announcement to the press.
Construction along Ironwood Drive has been taking place for the past couple weeks as crews removed the old pavement. If all goes well, lanes will be restored to traffic on Friday.
