I consider Keanu Reeves to be a horrible actor. While dynamism is not a must in Hollywood these days, it is a characteristic that lends itself well to Academy Award-winning performance. Keanu lacks this on the most basic level with a stoic temperament and uninteresting persona that goes unchanged from one film to the next.
But for a movie where he plays as an emotionally detached killer, these qualities fit rather well. Congrats, Keanu, you found your niche as a sociopath!
Okay, okay… that’s a bit harsh!
Really, though, John Wick is a good action movie. It will not win any awards for writing. It’s just pure violently aggressive blood-soaked entertainment with bad Russian mafia accents.
