The fight to be named the best pizzeria in St. Joseph County is heating up.
The online vote, which is being sponsored by the regional tourism website VisitSouthBend.com, pits eight of the county’s best pizza joints against each other in a friendly competition.
“There is some stiff competition when it comes to great pizza in St. Joe County,” says Visit South Bend Mishawaka executive director Rob DeCleene.
Among the eight pizza joints are Giannetto’s Pizza & Pasta, Barnaby’s Pizza, Luigi’s Pizza, Tony Sacco’s, Lacopo’s Pizzeria, Rocco’s Restaurant, Bruno’s Pizzz, and Starlite Pizza & Restaurant.
Each restaurant is pitted against another restaurant in bracket-style voting similar to March Madness.
The first round of voting opened on May 15. It concludes on Monday, May 25. There will be two more rounds until a winner is declared on June 8.
“We look forward to seeing who makes it to the next round!” DeCleene adds.
You can vote for your top pizza place on the Visit South Bend Mishawaka website at http://visitsouthbend.com.
The winner in St. Joseph County will then face regional rivals.
The “Pizza Wars” competition follows a successful “Burger Wars” competition in which South Bend-based The View Tavern won honors as the top burger place in Northern Indiana.
