The South Bend Alumni Association will hold its annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 16 at Elbel Park Golf Club. Proceeds from the event – which is in its 26th year – support college scholarships for South Bend Community School students. Teachers Credit Union is an event partner.
“Students from each of the five South Bend high schools, many of whom otherwise would be unable to attend college, benefit from the money raised at this great annual event,” said Susie Brennan, Director of the South Bend Alumni Association. “There’s no better way to spend a spring day than having fun on the golf course and supporting our community’s most deserving young people.”
Last year, the tournament raised $31,000 for students.
“Our goal is to go above and beyond that this year,” said Carrie Ann Taylor of the South Bend Alumni Association. “It will be an incredible day of golf benefiting the students of South Bend. Nothing could be better!”
The South Bend Alumni Association says that they welcome the participation and sponsorship from local businesses and organizations, as well as individual golfers. The tournament tees off at 10:00 AM. The registration deadline is May 13. Same-day registration at the event is not permitted.
The organizers are asking participants to register online. Click here to register players and teams or to sign up for $150-hole sponsorships.
Prizes will go to the winning team. Contests include the longest drive and closest to the pin. There will also be a raffle where participants will have the opportunity to win other prizes. A light breakfast and lunch will also be provided.
