A man has been extradited from Cook County, Illinois to the St. Joseph County Jail on murder charges.

Erique D. Raggs was taken into custody in Chicago on October 21, 2014. The prosecutor’s office says that he peacefully surrendered to US Marshals and Chicago Police.

Raggs was wanted in connection to the September 14 murder of Tony Shead in the 1400 block of East Calvert Street in South Bend.

Responding police officers found 51 year old Tony Shead and 28 year old Dorothy Tyler shot in a van. Shead was transported to Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Raggs elected to waive extradition and is now in custody in the St. Joseph County Jail.

An arraignment is scheduled for November 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.
