St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Greening of the East Race Return This Saturday

Bagpipes, a sea of green and probably a Leprachaun or two will be in full force in South Bend this Saturday as the city’s 17th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade gets underway.

The festivities begin when Mayor Pete Buttigieg marks the occasion on Friday morning at 11:30 am with a temporary renaming of Jefferson Boulevard and Niles Avenue as St. Patrick’s Day Drive.

The parade itself will follow on Saturday morning at 11 am. It begins at the corner of Jefferson and Francis, working its way six blocks west toward the Emporium Building on Niles Avenue.

Following the parade there will be a greening of the St. Joseph River at the East Race.
