Transpo Providing Free Bus Service for SB 150

South Bend Transpo new compressed natural gas buses

The South Bend 150 celebration is almost here. City officials, business leaders, and community organizations have been preparing for the birthday week celebration for months.

Due to the number of people expected, the city is encouraging people to carpool, ride their bike or use public transportation. An estimated 40,000 people could pack into downtown South Bend as part of the festivities.

Free public transportation is being offered on Transpo on Saturday, May 23 to encourage mass transit use. Anyone biking can conveniently secure their bike at one of the entrances to the event at Seitz Park or at St. Louis Boulevard and Wayne Street.

Transpo will also provide free shuttle service to the Wayne Street and St. Louis Boulevard entrance and the Seitz Park entrance from select parking lots (see the shuttle map here).
