Humane Society Offers Free Rabies Vaccinations in St. Joseph County

My little dog

The St. Joseph County Humane Society is offering free rabies vaccinations this Sunday at eight locations throughout the South Bend area. The vaccines will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis between noon and 3 pm on September 28.

Indiana state law requires all dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies for pets over the age of 12 weeks. This includes indoor cats as well. Rabies is a serious, incurable disease that is fatal when symptoms are present. Rabies can also spread to human when bitten by an infected animal.

The Humane Society says that they will only administer the vaccination to pets who are leashed or confined to a carrier. The animal must be at least 12 weeks old and not pregnant. The legal owner will need to be present.

2506 Grape Rd., Mishawaka

#2 South West Fire Department
