The Exchange Hosts Guerrilla Gay Bar Tonight
Looking for something fun to do on Saturday night? Guerrilla Gay Bar is hosting its monthly event at The Exchange in downtown South Bend on 112 W Jefferson Boulevard.
As we reported last month, Guerrilla Gay Bar has filled a void in the South Bend LGBT community after the region’s largest gay bar — Truman’s — closed in 2012.
“There was clearly a need for an upscale non-smoking social venue for the GLBT community but no one had any plans to open a new club so some friends and I decided to try a concept that had been successful in other cities like Boston, Philadelphia and LA – to take a straight bar and make it gay for the night,” Willow Wetherall, the founder and co-organizer of Guerrilla Gay Bar, told the South Bend Voice last month.
The festivities kick off at 9 pm with a cocktail hour. A local DJ starts at 10 pm until the bar closes at 2 am.
The Exchange is a local whiskey bar. As they describe themselves on their website:
The Exchange Whiskey Bar carries close to 150 whiskeys and the list is continually growing. We craft old style prohibition era cocktails and have a wide selection of alcohol including sipping rums and a variety of high end Cognacs and Brandies. We also carry a dozen local craft beers in the bottle and a small selection of wine.
