Notre Dame Plows Past Purdue 30-14

Notre Dame finished their third game of the college football season with a 30 to 14 win over in-state rival Purdue. It will be the last game between the two schools until 2020. The Irish are undefeated so far this season.

The Boilermakers gave the Irish their only legitimate challenge of the season thus far. Purdue held a tenuous 3 point lead in the second quarter only to lose it before the end of the first half. The Irish extended their lead in the third and fourth quarters, scoring a touchdown and a pair of field goals. The Notre Dame defense shut out the Boilermakers in the second half.

Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 6.5 yards per completion. The versatile Golson also led the Irish in rushes, posting 56 running yards and a rushing touchdown. Golson did not give up any interceptions.

The Irish defense held Purdue to 285 total yards and just two touchdowns. The Irish defense intercepted two Purdue passes. The interceptions came from linebacker Joe Schmidt of Orange, California and Devin Butler of Washington, D.C.

Everett Golson is undefeated in regular season games as Notre Dame’s quarterback with a 15-0 record going back to the 2012 season where the Irish went to the national championship game. Golson did not play during the 2013 season do to academic dishonesty violations.

Notre Dame has a bye next week .Their next game is September 27 against Syracuse.
