Local primary elections are a little over a month away in Indiana. Candidates are knocking on doors, supporters are putting signs in their yards, and endorsements are being announced.

It also means that poll workers are needed in St. Joseph County.

The St. Joseph County Democratic Party sent out an email request Tuesday asking local residents to fill available slots for Primary Day.

Poll workers will receive compensation of $85.50 for the day. Polling stations are open from 6 am until 6 pm on May 5. Workers will also need to attend a short training session prior to the election.

Poll workers must be 16 years or older. Anyone 18 or older must be registered to vote. Students who miss school will receive passes.

Anyone interested should call Voter Registration at 574-235-9522. Ask for a Democratic Party member (Mary Beth, Dawn, Gary, or Sharon).
