First SPECTRE Trailer Teases Bond Fans

Fans have eagerly waited for hints of the new James Bond movie’s plot.

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming SPECTRE debuted last Friday — and it’s causing quite a stir.

“A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization,” the filmmakers tease on YouTube. “While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.”

The trailer starts with the charred remains of MI6 headquarters, which was bombed in the last film, Skyfall.

“Forensics finally released this,” Miss Moneypenny says.

“What is it?” Bond inquires.

“Personal effects they recovered from Skyfall.”

A guardianship record and a partially burnt photograph of a younger James Bond with his deceased parents are handed to him.

The layers of Bond’s past that have been peeled away since the reboot of the series under Daniel Craig will continue to unfold in the latest film.

The trailer ends with Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz — who appears to be the film’s main villain — sitting at the end of a long table hidden from the camera’s view by a shadow.

“It’s been a long time. And finally, here we are,” Waltz’s yet-to-be-revealed character tells Bond.

While most Bond movies have in the past had little meaningful connection from film to film, SPECTRE is a continuation of the past three movies in the series.

Casino Royale introduced the spy as a not-yet 00 agent up against an unknown terrorist organization with far-reaching global pull in international finance and politics.

In Quantum of Solace, Bond uncovered more about the organization which came to be known as “Quantum” and thwarted an attempted coup in Bolivia.

Skyfall detoured a bit, focusing on a sociopathic villain who had a personal vendetta against Bond’s boss, M.

SPECTRE will follow up on the highly successful Skyfall, which grossed over $1 billion. Skyfall director Sam Mendes is returning for the new film. It will be released in American theaters on November 6, 2015.
