The city has opened up a warming site at the Century Center for residents who are without heat and power.
Century Center is located at 120 Dr. M.L.K. Jr Blvd in downtown South Bend. The warming center opens at 5 PM today. According to the city, it will remain open “until the need subsides.”
“Because of the continuing threat of COVID-19, residents at the warming site will be required to wear a face-covering and observe social distancing to mitigate the spread of the virus,” the city says in a news release.
The warming site has electrical outlets available for residents who have medical or other needs. The city adds that pets cannot be brought into the Century Center.
