The League of Women Voters of the South Bend Area is welcoming South Bend Schools Superintendent Dr. Todd Cummings to discuss changes in the district and academic transformation. The event takes place virtually on March 12, 2021 at noon.
Dr. Cummings will offer current information about the plans to close Hay and Tarkington Elementary Schools at the end of this academic year. He will also discuss recommendations to create an Innovation Network Zone for two other elementary schools, Muessel Elementary and Marquette Montessori Academy, both of which have consistently underperformed. An Innovation Zone provides underperforming schools with autonomy and the support necessary for improved academic achievement.
“Dr. Cummings will have the opportunity to receive input on these possible changes, address concerns, and answer questions. These conversations are intended to guide the district’s decisions, improve academic outcomes for students, and make wise budgetary decisions,” the League of Women Voters of the South Bend Area says.
