I’m Kelvin Poindexter.
I’m running for 2nd District Council. As a well known person throughout the community, I’ve been a life long resident of South Bend. I’ve also served in the United States Army, I am a union stewart for teamsters 364 and have been affiliated with other unions in the area throughout the course of my life. I am a dedicated father of eight. I volunteer my spare time with St. Vincent De Pauls, and also St. Joseph community correction board for 6 years and still active. Former volunteer assistant fire chief for Portage Township. Also former school bus driver for South Bend Community School Corporation for 15 years.
As I have had many adventures in life I have always returned to the place I call home South Bend. As long as I have been in South Bend I have memories of what it was like, and now see what our community has become. As I am running for 2nd District Council I have seen the forthcoming changes being made, but see more changes that could be made. As a community we need to embrace with a positive attitude, and I would like to help our community to embrace these changes with the least bit of friction possible. I don’t just see our community as people without a voice, I see our community as a whole with a voice. I am willing to hear our community, and help the needs of our community become reality. As the changes of more law enforcement of our district are already being made, we still need more police interaction with the community. As a parent I worry about our children as our community does, if we do not show our future how to have a voice and embrace changes how is our community going to grow.
